OSHA announced that next year, certain employers will need to electronically submit workplace injury and illness forms.
About the ruling
The new requirements take effect on January 1, 2024.
What businesses are included?
This rule applies to companies with 100 or more employees operating in designated high-hazard industries, including construction.

What forms are required?
In addition to the preexisting requirements for Form 300A - Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses, both Form 300 - Log of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses and Form 301 - Injury and Illness Incident Report will now need to be submitted electronically by affected businesses on a yearly basis.
The deadline for submission each year is March 2. Businesses will need to submit 2023 records by March 2, 2024.

Submit all forms via OSHA’s Injury Tracking Application using one of three methods:
Enter information manually
Upload a CSV file
Transmit data via API
Download copies of each form from the OSHA website.
Why is OSHA going digital?
Many businesses already collect and keep this information, but by requiring electronic submissions, OSHA aims to improve tracking of workplace injuries and illnesses.
OSHA will publish data from these forms publicly on its website to provide valuable insight to employees and their workers. Electronic reporting will help them organize and share this data more seamlessly, hopefully reducing the amount of incidents overall.
"Congress intended for the Occupational Safety and Health Act to include reporting procedures that would provide the agency and the public with an understanding of the safety and health problems workers face, and this rule is a big step in finally realizing that objective," Assistant Secretary for Occupational Safety and Health Doug Parker explained in the organization’s announcement.
