The problem: Overly simple reports with poor visibility
Before Raken, Acme Construction used manual processes and high-level summaries to track project progress. Daily reports lacked detail and didn’t fully communicate everything that happened on the jobsite.
When Project Manager Erik Johnson joined the business several years ago, he knew they would benefit from Raken’s streamlined reporting workflows.
“I had used Raken prior to working at Acme,” Erik says. “I knew what it was like and how useful it could be.”
The solution: Detailed daily reports with photo documentation
Once Acme implemented Raken, daily reports turned from simple summaries into detailed documentation. Not only does their field team use Raken to record work logs and share real-time updates, they can also capture and attach jobsite photos for even better visibility.
Raken’s comprehensive daily reports—with photo evidence—have made it easier for Erik and other offsite stakeholders to track project progress granularly.
“The daily report with photos shines a spotlight on the project for us to see in the office,” he says.
Raken’s reports are an accurate record that’s easy to access and refer back to when necessary. If there’s ever an issue you need to investigate, you can quickly verify what happened, when it happened, and why.
Crew members even have the ability to go back and check their own daily reports, which they couldn’t do with Acme’s previous system.
Time-saving integrations
For Acme, another major benefit of using Raken is multiple seamless integrations with their existing software for accounting and reality capture.
Acme has integrated Raken with Sage Intacct, Sage 300, Autodesk Build, and TrueLook to save time and cut back on duplicate data entry.
Tracking job costs with Sage Intacct / Sage 300
When Acme first started using Raken, they utilized our integration with Sage 300 accounting software to significantly reduce manual data entry. And, because Raken integrates with both solutions, there was no interruption to their workflows when they later switched to Sage Intacct.
Thanks to seamless data sharing, creating projects and adding cost codes takes less manual effort than before, which Erik says is a huge benefit.
“What’s nice about the integration with Sage is that it’s one less step for project creation and cost code implementation,” he explains.
To track time, Acme’s superintendents log work hours against cost codes that are synced from Sage to Raken using Raken’s digital time cards. The simplicity works well for Acme.
“It’s easy for our supers to select a code, add some hours, and be done with it,” says Erik.
Monitoring the jobsite with TrueLook
Acme was one of the first customers to adopt Raken’s recent integration with TrueLook reality capture software. Now, the Acme team can access TrueLook’s live views of the jobsite plus all their daily reports and time cards in one convenient location.
Built for contractors
For Acme, the intuitive, field-first design is a highlight of using Raken.
Created specifically for the construction industry, Raken is a time-saver that helps employees working onsite capture and share critical information without adding extra hours to busy workdays.
Beyond Erik, the office sees the benefits of simple, streamlined workflows, too. His boss (and the head of the company) has told him that Raken is one of the top two software programs Acme has ever used.
Their team is currently working to expand their use of Raken, including the fully revamped equipment management features.
