Outdated Software Wastes Time

Old software was the first problem Daughtrey and the superintendents found when they took a hard look at their processes. "What we were using to process daily reports, the software we had implemented, none of the superintendents enjoyed working with it," says Daughtrey, "it was very time consuming, the value-added portion of getting the information and putting it into a format that's easily consumable was very hard with that software." While the software was giving Daughtrey a headache, it wasn't fairing much better for the superintendents in the field. Dave Storvis, a Sundt project superintendent with over 35 years of experience, notes "If someone was working on, say, the foundations for three or four or five days I would have to go in and enter the same information three, four, or five times." "We're not just capturing the daily report info of what the weather was like, how many people were on site, or what scopes they did," says Daughtrey, "we're actually capturing safety documentation, permits, inspections, were doing all that and were consolidating it into a single source of information for that day." With Raken, not only were Sundt's field personnel making better reports, they were making them in less time. "As far as time savings, it's better than 50% of my time," says Storvis, "the logistics of a daily report are done in five or six clicks. I can then put it down and go out in the field doing what I do best."
